Our Approach

Our Approach

How we conduct contentious matters from first instruction to resolution.

The disputes we handle involve families, businesses, reputations and significant assets. In that context, the relationship between solicitor and client is fundamental. Contentious litigation demands trust, clarity and alignment from the outset.

We are selective in the matters we accept. When we agree to act, we do so on the basis that we are fully committed to our client's interests throughout the life cycle of the dispute. From initial assessment, analysis and advice, through interlocutory applications, negotiation and, where necessary, trial, we remain strategically engaged at all times. Litigation is not a series of isolated steps. It requires continuity, discipline and resolve.

We provide direct and candid advice. Clients are told where they stand, the strengths and weaknesses of their case, and the risks involved. That clarity is essential in high-stakes disputes.

We are equally conscious that litigation is costly. From the outset, we advise on likely cost exposure and procedural steps that may affect it. As matters progress, we ensure clients remain informed on strategy and costs so that decisions are taken with a clear understanding of proportionality and risk.

While every case is prepared on the basis that it may be determined by a court, we seek to resolve disputes where appropriate through mediation, arbitration or settlement discussions and where doing so serves our client's interests. Resolution, however, must be strategic and never at the expense of preparation or leverage.

When we accept instructions, we are committed, focused and prepared to see the matter through.
